説明

This dataset contains georeferenced occurrence records derived from the natural history photography collection of Marc Kummel, digitized and compiled by the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration, University of California Santa Barbara. Records span all taxonomic groups photographed by Marc Kummel across the United States from 2003 to 2026 and are formatted to Darwin Core standards for submission to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

Method step description:

  1. Occurrence records were derived from geotagged and annotated photographs taken by Marc Kummel. Metadata including taxon identification, date, and GPS coordinates were extracted from image sidecar files and compiled into Darwin Core format. Taxonomic names were verified against GBIF and relevant authoritative sources. Records were assigned unique occurrenceID values (UUID v4) and formatted for GBIF IPT submission.
