Description

The UNCG Mammal Collection is a collection of mammal vouchers of regional (North Carolina and the Southeastern U.S.) to national scope. Holdings are strong for montane ecosystems including the Southern Appalachian Mountains, Southern Rocky Mountains, and sky island ranges of the Great Basin. Most specimens are recent (2020 and after) and holistic in nature, with multiple parts (tissue samples, parasites) and rich derivative data (standard traits, gastrointestinal tract measurements, genetic barcodes, parasite identifications and abundances). Fluid-preserved specimens and seasonal series of small mammals are also well-represented.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,971 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
