Description
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 9,646 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Taxonomic Coverage
Crustacea is well-represented in the collection, with Malacostraca most often identified to the genus or species level. Soft-bodied taxa (e.g., Annelida, Nematoda, Cnidaria) often identified only at Phylum or Class, except for some Annelida and Gastropoda (e.g., Cochliopidae). Chordata represented only by Eurycea species.

| Purpose | The purpose of the Aquifer Biodiversity Collection is to support the mission of the Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center: promoting understanding and stewardship of groundwater and groundwater-dependent systems. The Aquifer Biodiversity Collection was established to provide a repository for the collections of current and previous Edwards Aquifer Research and Data Center staff and collaborators, thereby organizing groundwater community data linked to well-curated physical specimens. The collection and associated data are organized and shared to encourage and facilitate taxonomic, ecologic, evolutionary, and conservation research of groundwater organisms in Texas and beyond. |
| Maintenance Description | Collections data are currently uploaded to GBIF as a .csv file through the VertNet IPT. Maintenance is anticipated only when a substantial number (i.e. 1000s) of new occurrences are added to the collections or if systemic errors are detected. |
